With Coherence Be'lakor have proven once again, that they are truly the best band on this damn planet. Everything I love about them so much is present, but there is also some kind of development in their sound going on. They might never reach Stone's Reach again, but that doesn't mean they can't release other outstandingly good albums.

I'm not quite of the same opinion. I agree, "stone's reach" is their masterpiece and they won't ever top this level, I guess. but all its successors almost reached this level, imo. "coherence" fails at this task. after several listens, I didn't find myself headbanging, enjoying any melody, looking forward to any peak at all (dating back to the time of its release) :( it's been awhile, maybe I should give them another chance. by now, "coherence" is be'lakor's first disappointment.

While Coherence is a very skillfully crafted album, I find it severely lacking of character, too full of filler, and overall a downright disappointment in terms of the standard they set for themselves. They write 4 absolute banger albums in succession, and then they come back with a whimper in 2021, I can't say I'm satisfied by this. I know Be'Lakor are better, and I'm also confident they can bounce back, but this album just isn't it. Best word I can use to describe Coherence is "boring". None if it is bad, and it can be enjoyable at times, but the very few peaks aren't high enough to justify the long, treacherous valleys. Maybe it's just me, but up to this point, Be'lakor was among those bands I could refer to people as "a band that write only bangers". It almost feels like it's devoid of any passion, almost as if they felt like they better hurry and write something before everyone forgets about them, and this was the finished product. Shame, honestly. Better luck next time!

I have to agree. be'lakor were a guarantee for quality, each album on its own. however, I still favor "stone's reach", the combo of "outlive the hand" + "sun's delusion" kill me each time. "coherence" just doesn't do it for me, no matter how hard I try to like it. it's boring af, as someone had mentioned beforehand. your description nails it. I really hope they will find back to where they were.

I’ve wanted to get into Be’lakor for awhile now. Is the new album a good place to start?

Update on their new album, it’s "Finished, Mixed, Mastered and Ready to go" I seriously cannot wait for this to drop. I’ve been a huge fan of these guys for 12 years now and witnessing their evolution and growth has been incredible as well as it has been mind blowing and inspiring. Second to none. One of the most Highly Anticipated releases of the year whether that’s 2021 or 2022. With any luck it’ll be this year.

After listening to Vessels for first time in 2021, I was amazed, this album is much better than Stone's Reach which was their best work before 2016. This band really needs to come out with a new album soon, they are really some of the best death metal acts in the scene.

It took me 5 years to realize, but Vessels is just an incredible album and the peak of their discography. I hope that the upcoming album will at least match it.

This is my Melodic Death/Doom Metal Project! Highly influenced by Insomnium and Be'lakor. This is our latest single with lyric video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdoP5NEsKyU

they are quite a young band and currently has the most amount of potential to grow, especially given their track record of consistently great albums

Just read a comment from them on Facebook to a question regarding release date: "Honest answer? Recording could take 4-6 months. Mixing and mastering 1 month. Label then needs some time between receiving and releasing album. So we're looking at 7-10 months from today for the new album to drop. All songs are written and we are very excited with the material." So, early 2021 it is, patience still required, argh!

They posted on their instagram that they began recording. 8 new songs and a 60 minute riff-packed LP. I already know it's going to be awesome. Haha.
