Old Pool Farm
Schwenksville, PA, United States
Philadelphia's premiere cultural event and one of the most prestigious folk festivals in North America , the Philadelphia Folk Festival turns 47 & hosts its 48th festival in 2009. Philadelphia folk DJ & folk icon Gene Shay hosts the festival just as he has since the first festival in 1962. It is three days chock full of folk, singer-songwriter, and alt-country concerts & workshops, with a variety of acts to please everyone from the folk purist through the folk virgin. For campers, the days of official musical programming stretches to four and the unofficial "programming" runs 24-hours a day from Thursday through the wee hours of Monday morning. For the die-hard festival-goers (of which the author is one), there is no where else he or she would be during mid-August, two weeks prior to Labor Day. If you've never been, check it out!
