Father Murphy is the sound of the Catholic sense of Guilt.
A downward spiral aiming at the bottom of the hollow, and then digging even deeper.
After having furiously performed all over Europe, toured North America with Deerhoof, Dirty Beaches and Xiu Xiu, been praised by the Archdruid Julian Cope, among lots of others, the new installment of their unique sonic saga will be a concept EP on Failure, to be release next January by Aagoo Records (US) and Boring Machines (ITA).
Like the previous record (“Anyway, your children will deny it” among the best 50 albums of 2012 for Rock-a-Rolla Magazine) the new piece was mixed and produced by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier.
Father Murphy, with three albums and a plethora of EPs and limited releases, over the years became one of the most mysterious and enigmatic musical entities coming out of Italy, part of that community that Simon Reynolds started to call the new “Italian Occult Psychedelia”.

OAXACA
oAxAcA was born in Cuneo from the blues funk band Stylefire, formed in 2000 by Mattia Bernardi (drums) and Alberto Boto Dutto (guitar, Movie Star Junkies). After 6 years and thirty songs (7″ Obliquicity, released by the tiny dead label Mondo Mutato), the band goes to the complete absence of structure, instigated by american free jazz, the new thing, James Brown, the fear for mathematics, Coltrane…

The first four improvisations recorded in 2008 were produced for SelvaElettrica and downloadable for free from the label’s website.

In 2009 the Band is enriched by Diego Viada’s trumpet, and so with Ivan Grosso (percussion) and Michele Guglielmi (rhodes), they record in december 2010, the first LP mixed by Mano Moccia at Blue Records Studio in Mondovì. Fresh to the press in January 2012 for Jacob Records and SelvaElettrica.

In 2010, there is also the session that leaves extracts White Groove, Stay Lay and George Clinton’s Ghost with the saxophone of Andrea Armando that played with the band for three months. Many gigs in the Piemonte region and around Italy including two concerts with Roberto Giolito on electric bass. In the same year oAxAcA is completed by Tato Filipazzi on bass and Maiu Beltrando on synth and flute. Worth noting is the excellent live studio session “August Tape” and also the take with the voice of Simone Basso Enomisossab, both easily available on the web.

In October 2012, the band is in the studio for a new recording.
