Located in the area previously occupied by the beloved Avalon and Axis, the Boston House of Blues is separated into three levels: the GA floor, a level above with standing room, and a third tier featuring seats. Between 1,000 and 2,000 music lovers can fit inside the venue and absorb its unique Native American art theme after being searched by security (cameras are not allowed and must be checked for $5 if found). There are approximately six bar areas set aside for the purchase of alcoholic beverages. Recently, the House of Blues instituted an innovative policy allowing die-hard fans special access to a line directly next to the stage for entering a few minutes before everyone else upon showing a slip indicating they spent at least $15 in the HoB gift store.

Terrible experience here. Truly the worst. Kicked out because they thought my friends and I were drunk when we weren't. No alcohol on us, weren't being crazy or violent or anything, I've never been treated so disrespectfully at a venue, I don't care who's playing there, I'm never going back.

Been to my third show here recently and I got quick exit/entry, there were cameras allowed - or at least they didn't stop me (used an SLR myself). Also I don't understand the gripe/association with Livenation - music's a business too whether we like it or not. Principles aside, if the artist didn't want to play there they wouldn't, venue is reasonable, and personally haven't had any problems with the HOB in Boston. -- No need to hurt artists who choose this venue in order to pioneer against an 3rd party business - especially since I'm not familiar with why you figure Livenation to be so terrible. It won't change anything.

Went to the DT, TDWP, KSE concert, they did use metal detectors... I ask about their camera policy, the answer was that point an shoot type of cameras are OK, DSLR and video cameras are not allowed.

yeah it depends on the act whether or not they use metal detectors. i've been searched and not searched, just depends on the occasion.

I've been to two shows, and no metal detectors, cameras allowed, and quick exit/entry.

innovative policy - my ass. Another case of wringing out every last dime out of music fans. It seems HOB has a 30 day return policy on their unworn clothing items which means you can buy clothes get your pass then tell them to shove it the day after by returning the item. Resist such malicious marketing policies and screw it to LiveNation and HOB.
