Manchester Academy is a group of gig venues at Manchester University Students Union. Academy 2, Academy 3 and Club Academy are situated in the main SU building with the larger Academy 1 next door.
Academy 3 is on the second floor of the SU building and has an capacity of less than 500 so is a very intimate venue. Note that you can go up the large back staircase to the back left corner of the main entrance to get all the way upstairs.
There is a large, cheap and recently refurbished student bar open to gig goers on the ground floor of the SU building, this is often only open to people with tickets on the night of a gig.
Many gigs are moved between venues if they are more or less popular than the promoters anticipated, so don’t be surprised if your gig is in a different venue when you arrive. This doesn’t really matter as the venues are all next to each other.
