In 2001, The Memphis Group purchased Club Mesa, a popular destination for punk shows during the 80’s and ’90s located in an aging, non-descript strip center within Costa Mesa’s newly branded 19 West District. With a new vision, a state-of-the-art sound system and a remodeled interior, the venue was transformed into Detroit Bar, a comfortable Silverlake-meets-OC style setting with a reputation for top-notch, progressive musical programming.
Detroit Bar provides the local community an opportunity to experience an eclectic mix of live performances by emerging indie-rock outfits and critically acclaimed touring acts, as well as a cutting-edge lineup of DJs spinning rare groove, underground hip-hop, house and electro.
