They have recently installed a new PA and lighting rig. Sound is back to its best, in fact much better than it ever was. Just seen Jimmy Eat World and Sum 41 in the space of a week, and both were excellent - no probs with the sound at all...

Anyone got anything good to say about the sound production in the venue? Every gig that I have been to at the guildhall the levels and balance have been all over the show. Except when i saw Orbital, they brought in their own equipment!!! Great venue let down by very poor sound quality. Once a band have played the venue they never seem to go back. :-(

awful venue, but attracts good bands. i've seen futureheads, arctic monkeys and we are scientists there, all played good gigs, as far as i can tell, but the sound is just apaulling.

Used to be a good venue when they had the old PA (speakers mounted on the walls either side of the stage). Since they got rid of them, the sound is awful. I've been 3 times since it changed, Alkaline Trio was the worst - couldn't even distinguish the different songs. Even when next to and in front of the sound desk... Avoid.
