how to make last.fm not so fucking shitty
19 Jul 2008, 11:47
if you follow the steps you will start with
this and end up with this
step 1 - install firefox if you haven't already
step 2 - install Stylish
step 3 - go here and press the "load into stylish" button (and then "save")
edit: if you get the "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" error you can find instructions how to complete the step here
now your profile page (all profile pages actually) should look like this
if you're happy with it,you can leave it this way
but if you want to get rid of some useless shit...
step 3 - install Remove It Permanently
step 4 - install Aardvark
you need to restart firefox before the next step
step 5 - go to your profile page and right click anywhere
press "start aardvark"
now,simply put your mouse like this and press k to remove the stupid fucking library
(another way to remove the library: tools->add-ons->extensions tab->double click on "Stylish"-> double click on "Last.fm Paint It Black, v.2 Mod Dark-Grey/Olive" and add the following at the end-> #taste { display:none; } )
using the same technique remove all the useless shit you want
(like the flash player for example - you will need to press k two times - the first one to remove the player itself and the second one to remove the empty space left)
when you're done,press q
you can make these changes to affect all the profile pages in last.fm,not just yours,by tweaking the Remove It Permanently options (right click anywhere -> RIP advanced) before step 5
step 6 - expand your top artist list to include 50 artists
simply press this button -> settings -> number of artists 50 -> make it so
do the same for the top tracks chart,if you want
hope this was helpful

19 Jul 2008, 12:15Good tutorial, just a note to all Adblock users - if you already have Adblock, there's no need for steps 3-5, just add a filter along the lines of #*(id*=taste) and the library disappears. -

19 Jul 2008, 12:24Or alternatively if you're using stylish just add
#taste {
display:none;
}
to a stylesheet for lastfm to get rid of the library. -

19 Jul 2008, 13:00I don't even use Firefox and I don't want to either. Can't they just make this an official color choice, since this seems to be an issue with so many people?... -

19 Jul 2008, 13:17Great work dude, but for italian Last.FM I had to add another domain (lastfm.it) in order to use your re-style.
I'll explain in Italian how to use your re-style...
A questo punto selezione la voce "Last.FM paint it black ecc..." e cliccate su "modifica". A questo punto vi apparirà una finestra e nella voce "@-moz-document domain(beta.last.fm), domain(last.fm)" aggiungete ", domain(lastfm.it)" (occhio alla virgola!!!) in modo che vi appaia così: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/8720/screenpe1.jpg -

19 Jul 2008, 13:20great! Thank you! Worked perfectly!
Two questions:
I can't seem to highlight the right area for the player only. It either a.) removes one of my menu bars, b.) removes the entire left column including About Me, or c.) if I just click on the player I get the Java menu (zoom in, play, loop, etc) So where exactly do I click to remove the player but keep my About Me info? Is it possible?
Also, I got rid of the library but I didn't mind it too much. The thing I hated about it was the pictures were not centered in it's box. Is there a script/way to change the width of the margins for just that box? I could live with the ill-placed library since I can trim it down to a nice 4 artists, but the extra-wide right margin gives me a seizure. Please help!
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THIS! You may have just saved last.fm for me! -
