Oh wow. That Alcest tour is with Les Discrets. I'd love to see them live, too.

I've not heard the live recordings of the other song. I tend to steer clear of teasers. I prefer hearing the entire thing in one go. A little, nonsensical ritual of mine, I suppose. I get frustrated if I can't have what I want. :) From what you tell me though, it sounds promising! I nice balance is required. I honestly think he should probably take a bit of a break after this album and extensive touring. He's got too many fingers in too many pies! Do you know if Alcest are touring near you? There's a show scheduled for London again, so I might go. Same as Agalloch, actually.

Sounds decent. The last album was a bit of a disappointment, I thought. The first half was MUCH stronger than the second, which had a noticeable decline in quality. That song seems to be getting back to what Alcest do best so hopefully the rest of the album keeps it up and doesn't peter out like last time. What did you think of it?

Care to suggest anything you think I should pick up? I got the Solstafir album ready and waiting to be listened to. I suspect they will tour again. I've already seen them the once, in London, and they outshone the headliners, so, if I'm free, I might try to catch them again. Haha, it sounds pretty different! Female vocals, which sounds really cool, and a shoegazy sound? Strange. I must say, I never really expected that. Considering my recent habits, that's probably a good thing. Although, I must admit, I'm not overly bothered with Sigur Ros. They don't really move me, although they're certainly a talented bunch. You did mention autothrall saying they're more "rock-fueled", which might suit me more. I do LOVE this song though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3OJTZVKZx8 Do you like them at all?

There's only so much time in the day, my boy! Maybe some day I'll return.

Not yet, no. I'm VERY behind of latest releases, stretching back to the middle of last year. So it's pretty different to their last album? I imagine they're the type of band who will release albums that are very different from each other until the day they split. Does the new album feature vocals?

Opinions on Bolt Thrower's Mercenary album? It strikes me, like Honour, Valour, Pride as a slightly underrated, although it isn't overly memorable. When I listen to it though, I really enjoy it. No Guts, No Glory used to be a firm favorite of mine. Also, I see you've listened to some post-rock. Are you a fan of the genre?

I gave the Ghost Brigade album the once over. It sounded promising, as if they're beginning to find their own specific sound whilst still being able to bed in their influences. I'll need to give it a few more listens to see how it registers in comparison to the other two albums. I'll try not to compare them unless I feel compelled to do so (if they're strikingly similar). On a semi-related note, have you ever listened to a band called Khoma? You may enjoy them. Was that the Warmaster album? When I first discovered Bolt Thrower, I disregarded this album, stupidly. As of now, it's my favorite of their releases, alongside The IVth Crusade. It's such a stellar album, from start to finish.

I listen to the occasional metal album. I try to keep up with new releases, too. The new Ghost Brigade album is actually on my wish list, although I didn't realise it's already out. Thanks for the heads up. Would you say the new album is their best?
