Yeah, but they've got hearts of gold (most of 'em, anyways) once ya start to decipher the Mancunianspeak. I just got it. For some reason I didn't like Songs (in the Dark) but they totally won me over with this LP. I'm pretty ambivalent about this whole late '80s/'90s revival sweeping the underground right now, but Merchandise does it fantastically. It's the perfect soundtrack for falling in love to.
