Two Hooverphonic's concerts within a week
18 Dec 2005, 15:12
What could be better than a concert of Hooverphonic to finish the year? 2 concerts of Hooverphonic! First concert in the Ancienne Belgique (Brussels), a small and intimate concert hall. We were in the front row, close to Alex (the bassist) and Geike (the singer). Geike was dressed in a red and sexy dress. Alex and Raymond had more classical clothes but very smart (as usually).
The concert started with the mix-version of You Love me to death. Geike's voice was as perfect as at the showcase, magic.
They played few songs from the new album (wich an a cappella version of Wake up, what a voice!) then hits from others albums like Eden and 2 Wicky.
Suddenly, in the middle of a jazzy-version of Mad about you, "Give me a reason to be a woman..." : a tribute to Portishead with some verses of Glory Box. I couldn't believe my ears, two of my favourite groups joined together!
The "first part" of the concert ended with an overexcited Alex at the keyboard on the final of Your Hurt me.
They quickly came back for a unexpected Magenta and then Tomorrow.
The second rappel ends with Sometimes. The public sang "Sometimes, we've got to sing this song" during few minutes until the group comes back. Geike seemed to be so touched by the public!
They played Ginger then left the stage, definitely we thought! But after a lot of applauses, they finally came back to play the last song : Cheek to Cheek (a song that should have been on the album, according to the live preview of the album in march). They greeted the public and left the stage. I succeeded in catching one of the trakclists (Alex's one I think).
One of my best concerts of the year (in my top 3).
The second concert was in Mons-Expo (Mons). The concert hall was a bit unsuited (a large iron hangar). Acoustics were not so good but it was also a good concert! Exactly the same tracklist (excepted that they didn't came back for Cheek to Cheek). We were still in the front row and I had my digital camera with me (see below).
I already want to see them back in concert!
