Cool musical taste. I saw your shout about Glenn Phillips over on his page. I live in Western Mass. and used to go see him at Sir Morgans Cove in Worcester a lot in the early eighties. The live sound the got never seemed to translate to record. The group and especially Glenn sounded great live.

Duke? Some would say, that is "After Phil ruined it". But I lile "turn it on" and "Cul De Sac" very much... I'd say they ruined it together with "invisible touch".

Hi John, I envy you so much that you saw FM live. That was one great, great wish of me. It will never happen. Surveillance is really one of my absolute favourite albums since a long, long time. I never heard about the Live CD “RetroActive”. I must look for. What a pity that they never published the other great, great albums on CD…., wish you a nice weekend….. :)

About Me

I'm a 49 year old relocated yankee, living in North Carolina, USA, worked as a computer programmer, and spend my time kayaking on calm lakes, spending time with my cats, and volunteering at the SPCA. I was a DJ at my college radio station (WTSC-FM) and chief announcer my senior year.

I like lots of different music except for opera, c&w, and rap. Most of my tastes can be classified as "rock" and I am partial to progressive rock (aka "progrock") - old standards plus new bands who are obviously influenced by the same music I like!

There are also lots of excellent female voices I like... Joan Armatrading, Kate Bush, Shawn Colvin, Bjork, Jonatha Brooke, Martha Davis (of the Motels), Martha Johnson (of Martha and the Muffins, M+M), Harriet Wheeler (Sundays), etc.

I love live music and have been to several of the excellent progrock festivals such as NearFest, Progday, and BajaProg. I've only been to one in Baja - that was a big trip and language was a bit of a barrier to me but I had to see Anekdoten! Progday is so close to me that I usually go to that - although the sun can be brutal and they often don't have really well-known bands. I skipped Progday 2008 because there was any band I was very interested in. I went to Nearfest 2008 mostly because of Banco, Peter Hammill, and echolyn.
