About Me

The train wheels roll along
without that commonplace Pittsburgh tram screech,
And the train wheels slow and stop
to relieve themselves of the heat and sweat of mechanical friction,
they stop at stations with names like Wörgl Früchte,
names that sound like they have less vowels than they should.

As they pass, these towns sing like beautiful old songs, the bricks
and the mountains and the cows and the trees form choirs of intermingling harmonies
in the languages of air and stone and blood,
call and response chants carried across the peaks by the tiny hearts of mountain birds,
and each one is heard for just a moment, but each moment blends
into the next like the ticks on a piano roll.

A black biplane drags a glider between the cleavage of the Alps,
like old friends whose bonds have grown thin and nigh invisible
through time and growth of heart and mind or lack thereof.
from the train windows the wire between them is invisible
and then plane let the glider loose - there was only one direction to glide.
Then the biplane flew behind the mountain and out of sight.
