No, thank you! I saw William Parker and Olivier Messiaen in your top artists and I decided we had to become friends. Do you have any artist suggestions? I'm looking for some new music.

the solo notated is amazing but I'm looking at the chord changes lol. It's about a million bpm

haha yeah. My knowledge of theory is pretty basic anyway. I remember I got stuck playing the same minor pentatonic stuff all the time. And I was always frustrated with how sloppy I was. Tell you another awesome vid you've probably seen - Giant Steps notated.

I still need to watch it but I've seen that performance of My Favorite Things and it rules hard, right down to the stamp in intro lol. haha yeah man, some of the fusion stuff I don't mind guitar wise but I still prefer the Rhodes or whatever. I just felt like I was going nowhere with it so I scaled back. I was getting lessons at one point but it got to the stage where we were just going over soloes and learning them. I wish I took up drums too. Sax I can admire from a distance but it'd be cool. What freaked me out about playing keys again is finding for eg. a B Major chord is a different shape to a C Major, like I need to actually think about hitting the flats/sharps. On guitar it just kind of happens haha. If I'm a semi-tone off on piano it feels like I need to re-learn a whole new song lol

I play The Creator Has A Master Plan and just watch their reaction. I skip forward to where the vocals start, then the yodelling and then I skip to 20:30ish where it's chaos. I love it haha. I've had a keyboard for 10 years but I never really applied myself, and I started playing guitar 8 years ago and focused more on that. With the guitar I steadily improved for a few years and then just hit a ceiling. I think that's the point where you gotta invest tons of time and I never did. Since I started listening to jazz I wish I'd spent more time on piano/keyboards

I may have seen some. It looks awesome. I found this yesterday - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNSwEE_HLuE&feature=related - but haven't had time to watch it yet. I've only got Nefertiti from that era and I need to check it out again. Only listened once. Digging nothing out of the ordinary - things will hopefully settle down a bit for me soon so I'll check out heaps of new stuff. Been introducing Pharoah Sanders to people - equal parts intrigue and disgust haha. I feel like a massive badass cos I can play Greetings to Saud and Hum-Allah primitively on piano lol

yeh man been busy as hell too. I need to get Africa/Brass next purely for Greensleeves lol. I found some more awesome Coltrane videos on YouTube - I won't link them cos you've seen them for sure, but Naima and My Favourite Things from '65. That version of Naima I like much more than the one on Giant Steps. What you been digging lately?
