this is the your chance to do the hump
3 Aug 2009, 16:37
Had this stuck in my head this morning, then it randomly came up on last.fm radio for the first time in months. I think they're reading my mind.
The Humpty Dance -
our robot masters will know how to clean this mess up

and build a better world.
And that's why you should be listening to this song right now. -
what a weird song to get stuck in your head

La'hov
It's been there (in mine) for days. Maybe by posting about it it'll get stuck in your head and leave me alone.
Not that I don't like it. 3 days on mental repeat is enough though. -
i'll bite (this meme thing)

The old random play meme, that is. (see bunchofpants and rakka).
It's the first 12 things that show up if I stick itunes on party shuffle. Except I have some duplicate artists. According to the rules I could have removed them, but I just made a longer list.
Gathering Memory - Soundtrack [313]
Chalkhills And Children - Oranges & Lemons
When The Shit Goes Down - Black Sunday
Stereo 99 - Nothing Changes Under The Sun
new york : 1955 - Past Worn Searching
C/pach - Tri Repetae
Comments on the World as Will - City Of Daughters
Loves On Sale - Place Without a Postcard
White Light - Demon Days
Feel Good Inc. - Demon Days
Ratha Be Ya Nigga - 2Pac - All Eyez on Me (Book Two)
Optigan 1 - 13
Dr. Greenthumb - IV
Root Down - Ill Communication
I don't listen to most of these on a regular basis. It's only 2pac and that IV cypress hill song that I actively don't listen to. Destroyer and the Blue States I just got from somewhere. What do they even sound like? I just listened to them and I still don't know.
update
Add White Light to the list of actively avoided. Don't know if I've ever even heard that one before. It pretty much sucks. -
at the risk of sounding crazy...

so _this_ is why I never get good music recomendations
4 Nov 2006, 06:16
What's a recommendation AI supposed to do with this list of my weekly top 10 artists (which is actually more coherent than usual)?
* Mates of State
* Cab Calloway
* TRS-80
* The Unicorns
* Suture Sounds
* Sneaker Pimps
* Moloko
* Placebo
* Aloha
* Invisibl Skratch Piklz
"Ok," it says in it's little computer voice, "give me a list of all big band-turntablist-trip-hop tracks with indie rock vocals." I wonder if it gets sad when nothing comes up. -
Steady as she goes

Ever encounter an album that just sort of grows on you, slowly? Some of my favorite albums have been like that; some old Midnight Oil records come to mind.
The latest is Broken Boy Soldier by The Raconteurs. I don't know where I heard it first, or how I acquired it. It just sort of materialized on my hard drive, as if by magic.
At first I thought, meh, indie rock is all the same. But now I totally dig it. I still forget about them, but every time I happen to scroll by it's all, oh, the raconteurs! I will listen to them now! -
a smashing bit of alright, what.

Much more Kid A then the Bends. For me that's a good thing. Kid A's my favorite Radiohead disc.
Some have complained that it's not innovative enough. They say things like "Thom made an album in the style he's been painstakingly developing over the course of the last thirteen plus years. Gasp! He's totally failed us by expressing himself in the way that made us love him in the first place."
Can you tell how I feel about these complaints?
*stage whisper* The answer is "contemptuous" -
I always fastforward to about 1:10
