Good to hear from you. Yes, like my main man Jackie Mac, Booker Ervin always has that little bit of grit to keep things a little off balance and hold your attention. As for Japanese jazz, for me it's nearly all about the 70s as something really really special happened then - almost anything on the Three Blind Mice label (difficult to get hold of now, though), and Terumasa Hino, Kosuke Mine, Masabumi Kikuchi... the list goes on and I'm still making new discoveries myself. Enjoy!

Tnx for stopping by mate, dig in! I see you've covered the usual suspects, try Curtis Fuller, Hal McKusick, and of course...Chambers...

I did:] I think it's another classic with several beautiful compositions and lots of great improvisations. He added a percussionist to his band :o

Sun Ra is a very interesting musician i have to focus on a bit more, so far, i love Jazz In Silhouette and The Nubians of Plutonia :) and lately i've been hooked on Sonny Sharrock's Ask the Ages. i'm sure i'll find awesome stuff here btw ;)
