Card Pricer Receives $100,000 in Venture Capital from Private Investors
CardPricer.com, home of the Web’s most comprehensive baseball card pricing guide, announced today that it has accepted $100,000 in venture capital from private investors. The capital will provide Card Pricer with the opportunity to improve upon its existing user-friendly tools and, in addition, give Card Pricer the ability to finish new software packages that are currently in the development stage.
“This influx of money will allow us to improve upon our existing technology and to continue to give collectors access to the most extensive baseball card catalog on the net,” says Ted Golden, President of Card Pricer. “This is not a race to release tools quicker than our competitors. It is about developing these tools correctly and then handing them over to the end-user at the appropriate time. We just want to give more power to the collectors and ease the burden on the various vendors.”
CardPricer.com allows collectors to research cards, view their collection and access baseball card prices based on actual transaction history from auction houses, marketplaces, vendors and independent sellers. CardPricer.com’s custom built software provides the most detailed pricing information on the Internet.
In addition to developing its technology, Card Pricer intends to use a portion of the funds to achieve future expectations and goals. The company is developing a completely interactive baseball card catalog with the capability of being ported over into other markets. The goal of the interactive catalog is to create a modernized, industry-wide standard while preserving the existing methodology.
“The American Card Catalog is the standard in the baseball world, but it needs some improvement,” says Golden. “If we classified the T206 as set ATC0587, people would have no idea what we were talking about. That would be a great disservice. Card Pricer wants to create a consistent catalog for all those involved in the collectibles industry – from vendors to authenticators to the actual marketplaces.”
The funding enables Card Pricer to reinforce its strong Web presence and expertise in the baseball card collectibles industry and will continue to improve its innovative services.
