bongripper was great. the show was in a basement and it was jam-packed. such a small space, such huge sounds (amps stacked to the ceiling). it was my first time seeing HEALTH and i didn't know what to expect. i was not disappointed. their drummer was unbelievably good. he broke his snare during the second song and had to get a replacement.

i think D.B. appeals to a sort of ultimate individualism in people who would never dream of actually going to such extremes as he did. i love over-the-top stuff, and as crimes go, he was frankly just gratuitous. as for the phrasing: thank-you, that is actually one of the nicest things anyone's ever said about something i've made. i like having a flair. i actually read some of that 2005-2007 stuff the other day, and while some of it's a little winceworthy there was a fair bit i thought about reprinting (oh yeh... i moved out, 'n' have some prime internet real estate nowadays). aaaand you...! hope you're well. x

Hey, I had forgotten I'd sent you that song, I thought it would send the whole track though. It is from a 60's film called the Italian Job, Matt Monroe also sung the themes to Born Free and From Russia With Love, a great guy. I love the Hazlewood reference too.

Hey Jen, I have been teaching myself easly Sonic Youth - I have to admit the appeal of their late 80s, early 90s albums is too strong for me, I find the earlier stuff too abstract - is that the word? there's still enough noise and ditortion in the mid-period songs, only it all seems a bit more focused to me. Is that fare do you reckon? Feel free to disagree! Art Brut are a sensation, I saw them 2 weeks ago, I have no vinyl of theirs (nore anyone else's to be honest), despite their love of the 7" pop single. Eddie Argos is one of the best front men and band leaders around. Have a nice day, as I believe you American's say...
