I want to go to Green Man SO badly! Come on Summer term student loan, where are you... He's playing EOTR too, but so far, the line-up for that is less than spectacular, sadly. There's still more than half of it to be announced though. I want to go to so many festivals this summer. Sadly, all Cornwall has to offer is Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal and Cyprus Hill...thanks Kernow. I haven't yet heard the new Bill Callahan - I've downloaded it, but not got around to listening due to being out/my computer not being attached to my external hard drive very often/watching a LOT of West Wing... How's the dissertation etc going? Oh, and take a listen to a lovely Icelandic band called Benni Hemm Hemm - they're not your typical glacial fare. 'Eg a bat' has lovely harmonies. What else have you been listening to?

Have you heard Peter Broderick's album 'Home'? It's beautiful, maybe one of my favourite records of last year. Different from the one you're listening to at the moment though.

I imagine we're gonna see these guys very soon if their popularity increases as much as I think it will after this: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/12826-why-there-are-mountains/

Yeah, definitely- saw some photos of live shows they've done (doesn't seem like they've done many, even in America) and it looks really intense. Sent the link in a message. The new Metric album is a lot like their older stuff, so I'd imagine you won't like it if you don't like those. I'm not a huge fan- it's sort of fun though, and there are a couple of good songs... I think they owe a lot of their success to Emily Haines' personality- they look pretty awesome live, too- she seems to go crazy. It's a nice change from all the new stuff I've listened to so far this year anyway.

At the moment they're unsigned and they only have like 1300 listeners on last.fm, so I doubt they have the money to come over... I think they're probably in the process of signing a contract though- they had a track on pitchfork the other day so their popularity should start exploding (I hope!). The album is absolutely immense- they deserve to be huge. If you want to hear the whole thing, I could send you a link?

Hey Mike, have you heard (of) this band called Cymbals Eat Guitars? I was just showing Laura and she said that you might like (read: love) them, which I then realised is totally right. http://www.myspace.com/cymbalseatguitars
