The new Metric album is a lot like their older stuff, so I'd imagine you won't like it if you don't like those. I'm not a huge fan- it's sort of fun though, and there are a couple of good songs... I think they owe a lot of their success to Emily Haines' personality- they look pretty awesome live, too- she seems to go crazy. It's a nice change from all the new stuff I've listened to so far this year anyway.

I think they're probably in the process of signing a contract though- they had a track on pitchfork the other day so their popularity should start exploding (I hope!).
