I was at most of the recent Berlin shows of these bands, so I didn't expect suprises but a lot of fun, even at this bigger venue. It had at least some advantages, e.g. a nice big stage and less ignorant smokers.
First band was Misery Speaks, it was OK but didn't stick.
Then my second favourite band of the package, Aborted. I'm sure they were the heaviest band many guests of that show have ever seen, judging from the swamped looks. But I liked it, ultra fast double base drumming, interrupted by sparingly used mosh parts, perfect headbanging stuff. The song from the upcoming new album promised more great stuff to come.
Neaera gave me a chance to relax my neck. Most seems to love them, I'd give them the above average rating.
But Heaven Shall Burn, wow, that was an amazing amount of energy set free from first to last song. I just had to enjoy this show in the pit, although the others there were about half my age. I think I have deserved my sweaty shirt and bruises then. HSB have played quite a few hits and the set was long for a hardcore band and included their Edge of Sanity cover Black Tears. I really love this band, they have deserved their success. I wish them good luck for their first USA tour.
