About Me

"In a time of universal deception, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
==George Orwell
Oh, that wasn't what I meant to say at all
From where I'm sitting, rain
Falling against the lonely tenement
Has set my mind to wander
==Belle & Sebastian: Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around.
==Neil Young: Don't Let It Bring You Down

"Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance;
Others, mean and rueful of the Western dream:
I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft.
We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping.
This is the land where the Pharaoh died."
>>>From The Wasp (Texas Radio and the Big Beat), lyrics and poetry by Jim Morrison, 1943-1971; music by The Doors, album: LA Woman.

I don't think most of us would be here at LastFM if we didn't love music and people, as this is that merger for all of us. I do know that people and music teach me much that helps me through the life; and I thank you for sharing your music, because I love learning and growing.

Please feel free to recommend music, or anything else, to me: post, message, or just scrobble on! I love almost all kinds of music; although I don't play much classical music on my computer yet. At work, however, I often tap into my friends' Personal Radios and listen under my other user name, Aucilla™.

"Let us roll all our strength and all
Our sweetness up into one ball,
And tear our pleasures with rough strife
Through the iron gates of life:
Thus, though we cannot make our sun
Stand still, yet we will make him run."
>>from "To His Coy Mistress,"
by Andrew Marvell, 1621-1678.

"There is no feeling, except the extremes of fear and grief, that does not find relief in music."
>>George Eliot [pen name for Mary Anne Evans], 1819-1890.

"The stupendous fact that we stand in the midst of reality will always be something far more wonderful than anything we do."
>>Erich Gutkind, 1877-1965.

"God appears, and God is light,
To those poor souls who dwell in night;
But does a human form display
To those who dwell in realms of day."
>>>From closing stanzas of "Auguries of Innocence," by William Blake, 1757-1827.

Try My Loved Tracks, if you want. :) Maybe they'll surprise you: Sometimes they surprise even me!

My Last.fm Journals include recollections of seeing some pretty wild shows back in my teens. These links are to the specific journals about certain of the more famous of these shows: The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Doors, Cream, Blue Cheer, Uriah Heep, the truly crazy Crazy World of Arthur Brown, and others, all live in concert when I was a teenager. All rights reserved.

About Me? I am an ENfp personality, with a lot of musical and life's experience. I feel things intensely; and I am eclectic in my tastes and activities. I love running, hiking, scuba diving, bicycling...exploring and experiencing the outdoors. And I love and depend on live music, and most arts. I am interested in philosophy and social change, especially ending poverty of the body and spirit. I have helped raise three young-adult children, to whom I am still very close.

I am in the midst of transition; and I am confronting the evolving issues of my existence. Sometimes I feel that I am making up for lost time, maybe lost long ago; and then, sometimes, I am overwhelmed with a feeling that I am incredibly lucky. I want to be patient through transition and to allow myself to continue to become.

This place is a mix of the people and the music, and without the people, I wouldn't know the music; and through both, I can better know myself. While this in itself is challenging; I am very, very grateful. Thank you.

Mere words do not suffice for us.

You might have seen me runnin'
Through the long-abandoned ruins of the dreams you left behind
If you remember something there
That glided past you followed close by heavy breathin'
Don't be concerned, it will not harm you
It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of
Across my dreams with nets of wonder
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love
==Bob Lind: Elusive Butterfly
