Yep, I know what you mean. I remember watching Dreamland and thinking "if I was 18, this would be great" but then I thought, "hang on, it is great', for all its 'flaws' as you say...I guess my top five are there because they just made me really want to pay attention to them and think about them for days afterward...

Like you say, it's a tough call but... The Big Labowski? A couple of friends of mine rate that film too but I really could not see anything at all in it...I did try. Just don't see it. In fact it really annoyed me. Maybe I have a unique button it pushes...I don't know. Give me your take on it. The others, I can see some merit. Well, I have yet to see Lost Highway but my guess is it is a good 'un. My top 5 would have to be Dogville, Songs from the Second Floor, Naked, I Stand Alone or Irreversible (I can't decide) and Night of the Hunter. All made an impact on me from the get go and I Stand Alone has to be seen several times no matter how hard it is to do so...just for the script.

So, I'm curious. What's your top 5 'have to see's?

Have yet to see Funny Games or Benny's Video but i have seen Cache and Code Unknown both of which made an impression. The other two sound quite different. So many films to check out, so little time...sigh

I haven't seen those. Cheers, I'll look out for them. What do you reckon to the films of Michael Haneke btw?

Well, I'll recommend a film from your part of the world. I think one critic said, 'Like an Ingmar Bergman movie as realized by Monty Python' about Songs from the Second Floor (2002) by Roy Anderrson. It's a whole lot more than that so you could give it a try if you haven't already. Please recommend some for me too. I'm always up for something different...

About Me

22. Male. Recently moved to England, and I'm going to the Film production course at The Arts University College in Bournemouth.
Got a great interest in movies and music, as well as media and art, amongst other things.

I love everything from shoegaze, punk, hip hop, metal, noise rock, electronic stuff and more. If you're visiting, give me a shout!

I'm always welcoming recommendations. Especially good things I wouldn't have stumbled over by myself :)

Here's a clue on what music I listen to the most:
