Very true, looking back and listening carefully to some of Chopin's works with orchestra, these pieces are most definitely dominated and overshadow by the piano. to put it simply, it just wasn't interesting for an orchestra to play in and most of the time the orchestra feels like it is accompanying and merely following but not walking side by side with the melodies of the piano. Still... I always enjoy listening to the orchestration of his piano concertos as everything falls into place perfectly. The magic of Chopin no doubt :)

Yeah yeah, I know, pretty heavy stuff for 10am...... but at least it wasn't Requiem for a Dream or the Moonlight Sonata..... then I'd really wanna slit my wrists! Hope you're having a nice day

Ah yes, the ballades, beautiful stuff there! have you heard the John Field Nocturnes? Chopin was said to be greatly influenced by the musical styles of John Field, but I'm sure you already know this Chopin being your favourite composer and all :) Also I really like the Andante spianato & Grande Polonaise (Op. 22). I love how it goes from such a melancholic and soulful melody to a victorious and uplifting tune. Wish that Chopin had composed more piano concertos and it would be very interesting if he had composed a symphony or two ;)

Partly true, Classical music is new to me and I've only been interested recently. (about 2 years of listening) Prior to my surge in listening to classical, I was more into soundtracks (scores) and video game music (I still am interested in these to this day however...). whats your favourite Chopin piece? I absolutely adore the 2nd Piano sonata. For me, Rachmaninov is second only to Scriabin, absolutely love the Scriabin Symphony No.1 in E major!
