Thanks for playing the five Simple Minds @Paris Theatre tracks - However, I think, they're from 9 Jan 1980, not 1979.

To dubccc - God! is that what 6music daytime is being reduced to.Background music for the workforce - nothing too interesting as it will disrupt peoples output - a Hot Adult Contemporary station.Yes Radio 1 can be irritating, Radio 2 can make people fall asleep but surely 6music has more imagination than playing Muzak. What don't you understand about the meaning of 'alternative music' - that represent's alot of combined niche music listener's.It's not mass market, but 6music wasn't set up to be a 'pop' station was it. No I Don't want them to play my record collection.I want them to motivate me to update my record collection with the best of 'alternative music' that's out there.

I'm no fan of the radio, but we have 6music on at work so I've gotten used to it. What you're asking for isn't a radio station, it's a record collection. Search through yours and maybe you'll find what you're after and stop sulking.

Too UnkleDavenage - Just trying my best to 'try' & support artists that play alternative music that's all, which is the main purpose of 6music if you read their remit (some may disagree). There's plenty of pop-rock / alternative pop-rock / corporate 'indie' (http://www.nme.com/news/the-cribs/63445 - they are a corporate garage rock revival band as far as I'm concerned) radio stations in the UK - NME, XFM, Absolute, Q even Kerrang! & BBC Radio 2 (less abrasive tracks) these days. The UK needs a station that 'concentrates' on genuine alternative music - which only can be done by the BBC.Your playlist has quite alot of alternative pop-rock & I listen to alot more than what's on my playlist BTW. Couldn't give a shit if you call that paranoia - if John Peel was paranoid am glad to be called that. PS not saying every single track should be alternative - would be nice if 50% of it was.Not tracks that get high play on above stations as well as 6music.

    4. Overview of aims and objectives BBC 6 Music programmes should exhibit some or all of the following characteristics: high quality, original, challenging, innovative and engaging, and it should nurture UK talent. BBC 6 Music should deliver its remit by engaging people who are interested in music and who want to learn more about it. Its music should focus on major artists and ####material which do not receive much support from other radio stations#####

About Me

Welcome to BBC 6 Music. This is a sample of the music played on our radio station during the day, but isn't representative of everything we play.

BBC 6 Music is a digital-only station broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We play the music that matters from the last 40+ years right up to the present day. Our mission is to champion new music, celebrate heritage music and open up the amazing BBC music archive to listeners. You're as likely to hear The Clash and The Who as a red-hot band discovered by Steve Lamacq yesterday.

We can do all this because 6 Music is part of the BBC, the UK's public service broadcasting organisation. We're impartial and independent. The only things that influence us are quality, accuracy and the interests of our audience.

You can listen to us in the UK on your digital radio or TV and across the world here.
