To contourman :- Most played tracks in last 12 months - Far too safe / predictable / pop (slightly alternative pop) / commercial / dance (indie ?? disco) etc. etc. Don't mind them playing this stuff, but why or why so much of it when 6music ignores so much alternative music that is much closer to it's remit. This is why I find it hard to listen to the station.Too much hyped up, so called Alternative music played (most playlists are a joke). Not enough introduction to music to the listeners that you don't hear about or isn't broadcast else where - especially the more established artists (Popular (alternative) who haven't had mainstream airplay in the last 4 years is part of the Remit). There is far too much quality 'alternative' music that 6music just ignores.Alot of 'Indie' these days just isn't 'alternative' & alot of formerly called 'alternative' artists aren't anymore i.e. Coldplay. Basically there is far too much hyped up artists, naff tracks played.Let's have more objectivity 6music.

Get a listen to "21st Century Redemption Songs", the first album by Belfast band, Unquiet Nights here: http://www.unquietnights.com/music They've played venues like Scala, and most of these songs have been on one of the national stations.

Payola - never on the BBC, yet thinking about it hhhhhhmmm - not quite so sure know.Don't mind alot of stuff by Florence by the way - but not sure how 'alternative' she is for a show like 6music, like alot of other stuff they also play on the station as well.

Why is Florence the top artist for the last 3 months by such a huge gap? Is there a payment of sorts going on here...hehe?

Why can't the shows transmitted from Manchester show up on here? Marc Riley and Radcliffe & Maconie play great music.

About Me

Welcome to BBC 6 Music. This is a sample of the music played on our radio station during the day, but isn't representative of everything we play.

BBC 6 Music is a digital-only station broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We play the music that matters from the last 40+ years right up to the present day. Our mission is to champion new music, celebrate heritage music and open up the amazing BBC music archive to listeners. You're as likely to hear The Clash and The Who as a red-hot band discovered by Steve Lamacq yesterday.

We can do all this because 6 Music is part of the BBC, the UK's public service broadcasting organisation. We're impartial and independent. The only things that influence us are quality, accuracy and the interests of our audience.

You can listen to us in the UK on your digital radio or TV and across the world here.
