I know you have a thing for technical metal. So in regards to that, have you checked out Gorod's new album Process Of A New Decline?

I've had a listen now. I don't really like it. But then that was the case for Colors, which after a few more listens I decided was brilliant. I'm going to have to give this album some time.

Stopping by to give you a music recommendation. I'm starting to develop a strong distaste for modern death metal, if only because the majority of bands out there release generic shit. However, this year, a band called Ulcerate released an album titled Everything is Fire, and it blew my fucking mind. Superficially, it sounds like Immolation covering Gorgut songs -- there's too much going on to digest in one sitting. It might be too harsh for your tastes, but definitely worth checking out nonetheless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOwK7LXUNxY

About Me

Are my musical preferences schizophrenic, or is my schizophrenia because of my musical preferences? You decide.

Lately, I seem to be thriving on genres prefixed by Post.

I like all Gothenburg style Melodic Death and Thrash metal, all riff-intensive rock and industrial, and most progressive, ambient and post-rock music. I also like heavy music with slow, acoustic-electric refrains, experimental jazz and fusion, and trip-hop. I like that twangy guitar tone that so many Indie and Alternative artists seem to covet. I like walls of sound and distortion even if it sounds like noise. Energy, ambiance, atmosphere, weird time signatures, off-beat breakdowns, 4/4 breakdowns, legato Pentatonic phrases, staccato Phyrgian phrases, epic riffs and arpeggios wiggling into consciousness between catchy hooks and monster, shredding basslines, indecipherable complexity, melodies that sink in on listen #37, catchy hooks that are accessible on first exposure, overdrive, Wah, songs that haunt the shower-box and lyrics that I can quote four years from now. 4 Track production, Lacquer mastered analog production, sharp digital production and muddy amateur production. I want lines that I can put on my blog that people will plagiarize to sound cool and new music I predict shall be the seminal records that the next generation and the ones that follow will covet.

Give me atonal Holdsworth nonsense and unforgettable Shins pop normality. Give me Kings of Leon reverb and Meshuggah crunch. Carcass brutality and Bundy slap. Give me what you think music is. I'll take it all.
