yeah im sure he was working under 0 constraints and hbo didnt want him to make stannis more bad ass at all. and if grrm did right it that way on purpose, then he is just being inconsistent, as per stannis' earlier and later characterizations in both the books and the show. grrm can fuck up too, you know. and even if it stannis was some blood thirsty warrior lord from hell for the entire duration of a series, running up a ladder first with no helmet would still be dumb. there is lierally no character that is high born that could do that without it looking silly. this isn't 300 for chrissake.

wat does that have to do with anything. it doesnt automatically make it flawless. even though i do like the episode and didnt mind the battle in general as much as i thought i would.

it's still dumb. stannis was always described as a strategist not a warrior, and charging first regardless of battle prowess is idiotic no matter how "awesome" it is. (which isnt very awesome anyway, silly and over the top is closer)
