I'm not half the academic that you are. ;) I have always loved computers, so I studied Informatics with focus on multimedia at a college - not a "real" university though. Nevertheless, I am now a certified computer scientist. I have then worked in two different companies - and ended up with the shatters of my dream of a happy and fulfilled occupational carreer. I was just totally unhappy with the work, with sitting in front of the monitor all day and with having to do what I was told to, instead of being creative and realizing my own ideas. So I quit, and now I do tiny little jobs from time to time, like a small homepage or a flyer or things like that. Besides, I do a lot of of photography and image editing - although I sometimes get the feeling that I'm the only one to like my pictures. Sometimes I try to make some music, but I fail. I make attempts at writing, but I'm not good enough to show anything yet. You see, I'm currently at a stage of finding my way. ;)

Ah, well, it's always hard to see something exciting in the place where you've been living for 25 years... ;) I'd rather travel and explore the vast number of fascinating countries all over the world - if I had the money. I mean, Germany is just as big as one of your U.S. states - which gives me a vague idea of how much more there is to see, and only how few I have seen until now... But okay, I live near Cologne which surely is one of the largest and nicest cities in Germany with its cathedral and ancient Roman ruins, and people - mainly the older ones - speak in a rustic German dialect, "Kölsch". There's everything there, museums, movies, clubs, theaters. But what am I talking, pictures are worth a thousand words: http://images.google.de/images?hl=de&q=k%C3%B6ln&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi My actual hometown is quite a bit smaller and... boring. :) And now, tell me about yourself - if your homepage is recent, you live in Madison, Wisconsin?

Never mind - thanks for the link! ...although I didn't understand a word, of course. :D But I found a subtitled version somewhere, and I liked it very much. It's amazingly well made, I'm surely going to watch more of these!! :)
