Texas is the Reason Discography

5 Jun 2006, 12:17

Ok, for years now I've tried making mental notes of every Texas Is the Reason release out there and the versions of it. The most complete discography for them on the net that I've come across is probably the one of MTV.com, and that just lists the releases and tracks. So I wanted to compile something more complete that big fans or collectors may find useful. Most of these I have in my collection so I know that they are definately available, but some have just been too expensive to get ahold of (I've noted roughly how much they go for/how much you should be paying). I've also been trying to find out the amount of presses made for each, but that's a lot harder than you'd think as the labels don't seem to keep records of it, so if anyone knows of any extra pressings (or details of pressings) please say.

Dates are written as dd/mm/yy.
Track listings only contain tracks by TiTR.

I never realised they had that many splits and things. I am a bit of a casual fan, though. 'Back and to the Left' has to be my favourite track.

Sorry, not sure about that one. I'd guess that it was probably 300 or so pressed, but that's just based on the amounts for the other pressings. It's most likely from the first few pressings of the record, but I honestly don't know for certain.

TITR is prabably my favourite band ever, and it's so good to see a detailed discography! I went to last November's New York show, I witnessed such an amazing event I get choked up just thinking about it. I am desperately lacking friends that are TITR fans, please e-mail me if you want to talk about them more! lyndonwade@yahoo.com.au

Actually, I remembered a link to TITR's first show: http://lakeeriemonster.blogspot.com/2007/04/test.html I can also tell you that the band played every track at their recent two reunion shows, as well as the two unreleased tracks and Seam cover. I've also got a bootlegged video of TITR opening for Gameface and Lifetime at The Church in Philadelphia in '95...unfortunately it's still in Australia so i'm not going to be much help on set lists. Thanks for all the TITR info!

Unfortunately that link isn't their first show. Their first show was roughly a year before that, in May 1995. Great show list reference here on their myspace blog. 03/22/96- First Unitarian Church, Philadelphia, PA w/ Lifetime, Gameface. That show? Did you go? I'm sure there's probably a hell of a lot of bootleg videos out there, just hard to discover them and get ahold of copies. I'm very jealous of you making the reunion shows.

Thanx for the link, that show list is fantastic! Do you know from about which date they were playing their two new tracks? I am surprised with all the footage of last year's reunion shows, there is hardly any footage of those two tracks...or the Seam cover. Do you know of any? Yeah, that is the show I have the bootleg video of. I was not there, just an ebay purchase. It would be good if all this TITR info was collected onto one website; show dates, set lists, ticket stubs, detailed discography, interviews, merchandise, etc, etc. Something like www.beastiemania.com, that is compiled by fans of the Beastie Boys. Just a thought, cheers.

Yeah, it's a shame there isn't a proper TiTR website. Would be nice to have a collected place for all the info and somewhere where people could maybe share bootlegs and stuff. There's a good Christie Front Drive website, one like that would be perfect. I assume that the two new tracks and Seam cover were only played at the two reunion shows, but I honestly don't know. I very rarely spot bootlegs of their shows and the ones I have I've not seen a mention of new songs. Should think they were written when they were originally together and intended for release but just forgotten about?

It's sometimes hard to decipher fact from fiction with these guys, but in the lead up to the two recent NY shows, they said the two unreleased tracks were played during their final 1997 shows, but never made it to the recoding studio. Strangely, the new album had a title 'It's Happening Again' which was an alternative URL to their website, but it does not work anymore. There was one video posted of 'When Rock N Roll Was Just A Baby', but it was incomplete. I don't know if it is still active, I will post the address if I find it.

You can see some of 'When Rock N Roll Was Just a Baby' here - http://one.revver.com/watch/116637 Or a very short bit of their cover of Seam's 'Rafael' here - http://one.revver.com/watch/116634 There's also a bunch of other songs played on the night (25/11/06), which were probably some of the better quality examples I have seen. I have ordered the March 07 issue of AP magazine, which includes the definitive history of TITR...I think it needs to be put up online somewhere. I'll let you know when I manage to do that if I'm not put away for breach of copyright!

Think I have those videos on my harddrive somewhere, will have to look later though. Got most of one of the reunion shows thanks to someone on myspace uploading them. Please do upload that AP stuff if you get the chance, even on one of those photo sites or something. The cost of getting a copy sent over here hasn't really ever seemed worth the effort for what I'd expect to be a 4/5 page article. Would have been nice if they had maybe put out a last 7 or something for the reunion show with those two tracks on it. Would leave a better memory than a poster. Maybe someone needs to speak to them about putting one last piece out. Wonder if there were more tracks that never got heard...
