Actually quite good I know only his 1st symphony, but I think the rest might be also fascinating ;). It is much powerful, with choir, baritone and soprano. It also is his longest symphony. Besides - The Lark Ascending - however strange it sounds, it's like an Asian music. Btw, http://www.medici.tv/# is going to broadcast all Beethoven's symphonies this week.

Have you got any opinion about Ralph Vaughan Williams? As I keep listening his music, he fascinates me more and more.

Hey, I'm just after the concert! It was an amazing experience and in my opinion well performed, at least everybody (I guess) were standing. You know what was interesting? They connected the end exactly with the time of death of Karol Wojtyła (Jan Paweł II or how you call it in German, you know I mean pope anyway). They ended whole symphony like ~minute before it and conductor did let the audience clap after this ~minute :P. Which part you like the most? Hmm, the ending is outstanding and I can't say I don't adore it, but besides, the first movement is the best for me, I guess. I only know his 3 symphonies for now (1, 2 and 5, 3 I listened only once) and I'm looking forward to check the rest. Hmm, I don't really like slow forms, but I'm happy to hear the 4th in your opinion is one of the best ;). Great! If there is/you will find something interesting about it, that would be always nice to hear. Btw., did you watch the movie about Mahler's live (1974)? Is it worth to watch?

Hey! I'm probably going to attend tomorrow's concert in Poznań Philharmonic to listen to Mahler 2nd Symphony ( http://www.filharmoniapoznanska.pl/ )... I imagine Simon Rattle is better than Marek Pijarowski, but if they will perform it good enough, that could be a one of the most exciting visit there for me :P. And my God, currently Mahler is my favorite not-living composer, I guess. And still I know good only his 3 symphonies ("good"). In the next month they are going to play his 4th yet in this season. Any opinion about this one?

If that is the case, I would have been listening sad music by months :P. Besides Brahms's 4th, they will also perform Shostakovich Violin concerto no. 1 I listened today. Hmm, since I enjoy more in allegro and other faster and stronger forms, parts 3 and 4 get my interest.

That must have been awesome :o... I'm even thinking about going to attend on some of Berlin Philharmonie concerts (especially for Yuja Wang), since I have only 2-3 hours to go, but you know, it is a bit expensive (tickets). I have bought already a ticket for Symphonic Odysseys in Cologne, but I'm not sure if I could go. There also will be a festival in Cracow in which my favorite Japanese classical music composer will be performing (that is still a shock for me). I guess you are right... Titan is much easier than other of his symphonies, but I think it is a fun to listen. Its powerfulness... That is what makes it great. Anyway, I think my favorite for now is this Sturmisch Bewegt from 5th symphony I mentioned. Btw., I see you listen to the 4th symphony of Johannes Brahms. It will be performed in Poznań Philharmonic this week and I still didn't listen to it. What is your opinion about this one? I only know his first.

Hey, I still can't believe that I couldn't go at the philharmonic to listen to the 1st symphony of Gustav Mahler, this one is... Indescribable awesome, even though a bit shortly. If any other of his 10 symphonies is better, I don't know what will happen with me (although Sturmisch Bewegt from 5th is one the best composition I ever heard). Fortunately, we celebrate a 100th anniversary of his death and that is why our philharmonic in Poznań organize concerts with his music, there will be his 2nd and 4th yet in this season.
