Your history of guitar lessons with a former trombone player conjured up some humorous imagery ... perhaps because one might observe that I play like I had taken lessons from a trombone player! I did check the bio for Clayton-Thomas on Last.fm after I shouted you and it seems he is still making music. His presence in the performance I saw was very powerful, but on some later releases he/they sounded tired or uninspired. Janis Ian sang on an early album, "Oh, that awful fight, to keep the spirit bright".
