About Me

First off, I'm just your average guy from south-western Pennsylvania. I luv music. I listen to mostly classic rock, heavy metal, and classical...and just about anything else, although I'm not real big on rap and country. It varies from Pink Floyd to Sade to Mozart to Pavarotti to Metallica. I probably shouldn't even tell you that when you can just glance at my charts. And I think an ecelctic taste in music is a sign of intelligence. I love listening to music, being an integral part of my life. I'm usually just meandering around this site. You might notice that I have a habit listening to a song over and over and over. Also, I usually put my music player on and leave. I really want to hit 100,000 plays. Anyway, if you have any good reccomendations I wanna hear them and you ever want to talk, I'll be here to listen....

"Music alone with sudden charms can bind the wandering sense, and calm the troubled mind."

"Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence– whether much that is glorious– whether all that is profound– does not spring from disease of thought– from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect."

- Edgar Allen Poe from "Eleonora"

"It will be found, in fact, that the ingenious are always fanciful, and the truly imaginative never otherwise than analytic."

- Edgar Allen Poe from "The Murders in the Rue Morgue"

"It is more than probable that I am not understood; but I fear, indeed, that it is in no manner possible to convey to the mind of the merely general reader, an adequate idea of that nervous intensity of interest with which, in my case, the powers of meditation (not to speak technically) busied and buried themselves, in the contemplation of even the most ordinary objects of the universe."

- Edgar Allen Poe from "Berenice"

Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. User note; As of August 17th 2009, my curiosity was satiisfied when I created another profile purely for the sake of seeing how many plays I REALLY had and found out I had well over 101,000. So my counter at the top is not completely accurate. My accurate profile is at http://www.last.fm/user/Purple_Fog
