Thanks for dropping by - I know what you mean about finding less and less out there to listen to. It was the same with me for ages, until I started listening to ambient - a penchant for electronic really helped. Initially the genre seemed pretty empty and musically stunted, but after a while (and especially after discovering real gems thanks to Last.fm), I found myself excited about music the way I used to feel, way back in the good old days! Whatever your tastes, Last.fm is probably the best way to discover new music. *ALL* the new music I've found in the past 3 years has come via Last.fm. Rock on!

About Me

Music has been an integral part of my life, as I'm sure it is for a lot of people, since I was a nipper. My parents are huge fans of the Beatles, so from a young age I was exposed to them and a narrow range of other classics from the 60s and 70s, varying from The Supremes to ABBA.

Prior to my early teens I started to buy the odd single and album (on vinyl of course!) and took a keen interest in both the charts and music from earlier times. This continued, helped by the musical influences of friends, from vinyl to cassettes to CDs and currently downloads.

My own taste is pretty eclectic, and I think is simply based on "I knows what I likes". I will stick with an artist as long as I think they're making good music, and equally return to an artist if they make music I enjoy. I won't bother you with artist names, as it is self evident from my profile.

Last.FM (née Audioscrobbler) is a fantastic and fascinating social experiment, along with illustrating to me what I actually listen to, which can sometimes be surprising.

Now I find myself at an age where either the music scene is diminishing in quality, or my ability to enjoy new music is failing - in a way I hope it is the latter, but in any event that is still rather sad. Either way I tend to return more and more to my library of songs.

I also have the beginnings of a semi-infrequently updated podcast, that plays some of my favourite tracks along some theme or other.
