The Clash's first album didn't have much of a reaction on the american music market, where as London Calling was the first one where they started to become notice. This had some really folk and american artist influenced tracks, a lot of the sounds they experimented with on that album resulted in a very american sounding album. You can even tell by the album cover they were greatly influenced by american artists at the time (Artworks based off an Elvis Presley album).
