oh yeah, one thing i've been meaning to mention. when you do end up going to the lincoln center exhibit, there will be this one big wall w/ 6 different screens on it. make sure you take the time to watch the short films playing on screen #1. there is this one hosted by lenny called like "design in music" or something. i nearly died. pure unadulterated lenny goodness. i shall say no more. . . ;)

Saw your avatar in my Visitors box. I'm guessing it was my shout to MrMiltonBanana that brought you my way. Also a G & S fan I see. None of their stuff seems to scrobble quite right on last.fm so I just stick to listening to them on my vinyl collection for the most part. (Just curious Alice - your favorite production of theirs would be ______?)

the morgan isn't really that big. you can def take it all in in a few hours time. currently have a HUGE william blake exhibit as well as a giaccamo puccini exhibit on the first floor. and a whole lot of awesome randomness on the 2nd. lots of old manuscripts from old dead composers to check out. almost died when i saw bach's autograph. also worthwhile, hemingway manuscripts, john singer sargent painting, degas sketches, andy warhol. oh! you know what they have that's kinda REALLY cool? a composition written by mozart's dad (who was a really talented musician in his own right.) gosh, i can just go on and on. it's all wai rad, i assure you. :)

I completely understand. There's something about Mahler that is so coarse and ugly and yet so sublimely beautiful that just .. ahh. Just gets right inside your chest. Its unbelievable. And, always glad to find another cello lover! :) I feel almost.. personally proud of how lovely it is. Like.. good job, cello, you make me glad to be your player. Though, the violin is beautiful. (Me too. And mutual male friend slash boyfriend.)
