What should be their next singles? (part 1)

22 Apr 2007, 20:35

Yes, artists sometimes make wrong single choices (Gwen Stefani's "Crash", Rihanna's "We Ride" and Justin Timberlake's upcoming "Summer Love" just to name a few...). They need professional advice before they definitive their next single choice. And we, not only the fans but also the rest who just happened to listen to the artist's album, are those professionals! So here are a couple of songs by some artist they should definetely release as a single!

  • Ana Johnsson "Coming Out Strong" - Such a strong song! It would feel like "We Are" all over again, and maybe become even as succesful (or even more). If the label just promotes her outside Japan and Scandinavia...
  • Anaís "Fue un Placer" - Just like the above song, it's such a strong song, if you just finish listening to it, you would feel the power of it! It's amazing!
  • Beyoncé "Freakum Dress" - This song would ROCK THE CHARTS! With the video it has, it would be the second "Crazy in Love" on the charts! There's not much to say, just release it!
  • Cherish "That Boi" - It begins introducing the girls and i thought why "Do It to It" was the first single... However "Do It to It" is DEF NOT a bad choice, this song would've been better to release first. The beat is so danceable, this'd be such a club banger! They should release it still!
  • Ciara "That's Right" - Just like the former songs, this one is sooo danceable too! Uptempo beat, Ciara, some good moved in a video and Ciara's got her second Hot 100 #1!
  • Fall Out Boy "Fame < Infamy" - This song just ROXX! That's all I can say, it ROCX! Please release this one after the memories end!
  • Fergie "Clumsy" or "Here I Come" - The first one would be such a funny single choice and "Here I Come" is just another uptempo song that will make the Billboard Hot 100. Unfortunately, there's nothing left from The Dutchess that will make the #1 spot in the US that are not one of the singles.
  • Hilary Duff "Outside of You" - This... track... freakin... ROCKS! After she releases "Stranger", this one or "Gypsy Woman" should definetely be a single! This song brings back the rocky side we got to know when we first heard Hilary and is such a scream-a-long song! I always do so when I hear it and predict thousands other would too if they heard it!
  • JoJo "The Way You Do Me" - It would be good if people who attend the late night clubs hear her voice sometimes too, and with this song, they will! This is kinda the first uptempo song she recorded and people will do some serious bootyshakin' to this song! It'll be good if people know that she can record some fun/uptempo songs too (the only other fun single she released is "Baby It's You"). Get a good video for it and you'll have a hit in return
  • Joss Stone "Put Your Hands on Me" - I don't know if this song is to be the second single from Introducing as "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now" is a possible second single too, but ever since I heard this song, I can't get this song out of my head! And I believe that's what the labels want, to have their artist's songs stuck in people's heads so they don't forget them.
  • Katharine McPhee "Open Toes" - I can already picture Katharine in the video: kind of like Beyoncé's "Freakum Dress", but instead of constant change of dresses, Kat would be changing shoes all the time! This song would definitely be a hit under the girls and shoe company's would be PAYING her to show off their shoes in the video!

That's all for this time. Next time, it'll include the songs from L-Z! What do you think of these choices?

I definitely agree that Beyoncé should release Freakum Dress next, but I think the video sucks. I was hoping for a big-ass proper video but this features just one location and one overused gimmick of the changing dresses.

I don't know any of the other songs you've listed so I can't repsond to those.

I think Open Toes should be the second single of Katharine Mcphee, the song is amazing!

Fergie: Well I dunno if you mean Clumsy or Here I Come AFTER Big Girls Don't Cry ? Cos that is officially the next single, and I think that's the best choice tbh. But if she was to release a 5th single, then either of those would be great <3 I'd say Here I Come.. that song feels like it needs to be released!

Hilary Duff: Yep, I agree with you - Outside of You rockks! Gypsy Woman and Happy would be great as singles aswell though :)

JoJo: Again I agree with you - The Way You Do Me would be an awesome single! It's always been a favourite of mine, cos there's so much to it and it's just fun! But I think there's so many songs on the album that would make great singles: Good Ol', This Time, The Hight Road and Anything (what is the deal on this song.. is it being released or not?).

Joss Stone: Yeah Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now is the 2nd single. But I think either Put Your Hands on Me or Baby Baby Baby will be the 3rd. All great tracks :D

Katharine McPhee: Open Toes would be my second choice for the 2nd single. My first choice would be Not Ur Girl.. I'm sorry but this song is the most catchiest thing ever and I love it so much!! However, I think that if her label is wanting to sell more records (which they obviously do), then Open Toes would be the best song to release. I can imagine this being a hit in the charts! :)

    Great journal btw :)

    @mega_wicked:

Fergie: Yes, I mean after Big Girls Don't Cry
McPhee: I don't know Not Ur Girl, I'll give it a listen.

Part 2 will be coming later today.

I agree with Joss Stone :D

Hilary Duff's next one should be Happy it's so unbelievably funky!

And Beyoncé? Nothing from the album, apart from Deja Vu, Ring The Alarm and Irreplaceable it's DULL! Though still better than her debut album.

Beyoncé should put out If as her next single. But euh.. I for one have had enough B'Day exposure, and want new material. But I heard she is going to take a break after the tour so guess that will have to wait...

Ciara - That's Right: YES YES YES!!! Finally someone who acknowledges that song!

Hilary: Outside of You is very nice (what isn't from Dignity), but I want Burned!! :D

You're definitely right about Ana Johnsson and Coming Out Strong... it's my favorite song of her second album and I think my favorite song of her entirely (the only competition being Coz I Can).

Like you I wish Ana would be promoted across the Globe... or at the very least here in Holland. I would love to see her live but travelling to Japan for that isn't really an option...
