When I saw 'em, Swans had... at least 20 amps in addition to the venue's amps. I had trouble hearing for days even after the deafness cleared up. I get the feeling that those earplugs were what kept me from seriously going permanently deaf xP

Swans is a full-body experience, if you ask me. I saw them live and spent most of the next day in contemplative silence (I was also quite deaf despite my earplugs being stuffed quite firmly into my ears). If you're a fan of the noisy stuff, go right ahead and start with their earliest stuff: Filth/Body to Body, Job to Job and Public Castration is A Good Idea. Cop/Young God + Greed/Holy Money were the next logical steps for me (and I basically followed their discography chronologically from there). The way they change from album to album takes some getting used to, I think. Their earliest work is their most intense. I strongly recommend seeing them live if (no... when; I know they're going to add NY dates at some point) they come to NY.

The sound check/bassist messing around at the beginning of Fashion Week sent shivers down my spine. The Petting Zoo crew recognized me later on because I bother them/post on their band's facebook page regularly. :D I'm glad you came. You know, I'm not quite sure who you were and I really should have mentioned *something*. Uhh... a couple of people kept looking at me during the show, too, and I've seen most of them at a Swans show...

Oh, awesome! I hope I don't make an ass of myself, but I've wanted to see EAPZ since 2009. I'm so excited and I really wish they'd released their CD sooner so that I could get everything signed by the band.

About Me

I live in Queens, New York City, where I was born and raised.
I believe in no god(s).
I’ve never tried alcohol or drugs and never will.
Music, technology, women, and helping others are what keep me alive.
I spend all the money I ever receive on music, concerts, and food.
I wear band tees and Levi's jeans year round.
My first ever concert was this one. It was also the only gig I went to that year; I've only been regularly going to shows since summer of '10 and will have probably gone to about 100 by the end of 2012. I can't get enough.
