Quoting my Flickr profile:
"... relate to some of the recurring themes that will develop, which will refer to austerity, simplicity, restraint and often, in one sense or another, emptiness, but not always in a bad sense. I expect that, in visual terms, the emptiness of space and of the desert will often make their appearance on my blog. Both are sources of great natural beauty."
Last.fm being far more a music site than a photography site, the minimalism will show itself in the musical choices you see in the group section, which you'll notice is and will be heavy on ambience and minimalism. The desert and space will be seen frequently; places often thought of as being "empty", though a few hundred million people might beg to differ in the case of the desert.
I would have liked to have signed up for some Middle Eastern groups, but remembered how Last.fm's system worked, and decided that I didn't want to drop globalized music into a culturally specific group's pool. Instead, I'll settle for occasionally talking about some of the culture in my journal, and linking to interesting videos and sounds offsite.
The public domained image you see is a segment of an image on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day page. There is a lot to choose from, there, so if do you like this picture, please be cool and cut your own sample, to make your own look. There is plenty of imagery to go around, and a dozen people with the same icon? That's just lame, right?
Much better to be yourself than to be somebody else.
Automatic Update Notification
I wouldn't ask you to keep checking back for updates on an infrequently posted to journal, so I've set up two different pages on which you can subscribe to my Last.fm journal and be automatically notified when there's something to read.
My Mybloglog Community - See updates appear in the "communities" section of your Mybloglog page, every time you log in. Virtue: Ease of use. If you stay logged into Mybloglog with default settings, you'll automatically be signed up for my community after a few visits. Drawback: Mybloglog might be deleted by Yahoo in the near future, with little (if any) warning, judging from the comments of one of their administrators.
Feedburner Updates - Leave your e-mail address, and Google sends you messages by e-mail, whenever I post. While I couldn't claim that Google has never unpleasantly surprised its users, it does so far less often than does Yahoo. This service is likelier to stay around in the long term, than the far more beautiful Mybloglog.
