About Me

I continue to trust that things will get better no matter how bad they seem, while looking for the best aspects of any situation, and holding the belief that good will inevitably triumph over evil. Over the years I have learned that if you project an attitude of success you will gain confidence and charisma. I immediately look for the oddly good out of a seemingly bad situation, just to be optimistic and funny. I also think the concept of one's self being in a constant state of flux is important. We ebb and flow from one mood to the next, swinging through life, influenced by our experiences. But once you internalize and accept that you're a product of your environment, influenced by your animalistic emotions, in reality you become much less influenced by your environment and much less influenced by your most basic desires. You are then in more control of your destiny and you have knowledge to defeat ignorance which causes your failure.

Figure out what you want, establish your goals, double check them, and examine them again. Revisit, refine, and reconsider them, often. When you know what you want it’s easier to see indicators that you are getting there. You'll start to see every piece of evidence of coming success and every mistake as opportunity to learn from. Mistakes are inevitable and when you accept something as inevitable, it is neither bad nor good, it just is. We should learn from them, take in as much as we can, picking up patterns in the process and common themes in the mistakes. It’s constructive criticism when you critique with the intention of improving and if your goals are clear as you can make them, you'll remind yourself that improving is indeed the object of your desire. You’ll be so frantically searching through the negatives looking for positive that you'll forget they're negative at all. But remember, they aren't really negative anyway; they're inevitable and therefore just are. I think it's about recognizing the bad only insomuch as it enables you to achieve the good that you want.

As far as we know this is the only life we get. All you can do is be the best you can be. Don’t feel how anyone else tells you or wants you to feel. Feel as you are supposed to feel according to your own designs. Every shivering moment you don’t act this way is another blade's centimeter towards your heart. The haters will always be there, there’s going to be people who think you pathetic or ugly or weird or loose moraled. Who gives a fuck? Live the life you want! You will never be everybody's cup of tea. Someone will find a reason not to like you. Hell, there are countries full of people who might not like you simply because of your skin color or country of birth. But you focus on the prize. The sign of strength in this world is to pursue that which you want relentlessly and tenaciously. The sign of virtue is to bring as many people as you can along with you on that journey. But even when you reach the height of success, someone will trudge toward the summit to pull you down. PEOPLE WILL HATE YOU. The better you are the more people will hate you for no reason whatsoever, without knowing you, and maybe without even knowing what you look like. Letting other people define your self-perception by virtue of their emotional state is a weakness that will stand in your way in most endeavors. Don’t give them the power to control your behavior, or your ability to live your lifetime to the fullest. Always Love.

We are made to experience, of course, but to make it our chief goal is to invite misery. For when we reach a threshold of experience we look over the edge of it and realize there is nothing more. That the thing we strived so hard to attain ultimately has no end. Passions squandered in places where nothing was bought or received. In relationships that hold out signs that proclaim, "Bridge out. Turn back." and investments that lead us toward ends we never desired to attain. What is there left to gain? Material goods, knowledge, and experience all lead us toward places we never intended to be - as children and as plainly honest people. Dark places that take the better parts of ourselves and offer them as sacrifices to the gods of pride and intellect. I, for one, have killed too many pieces of my own heart to resign myself any longer to such a fate.

You know what you want. I know it too. You wish only for happiness. In whatever form you can attain it even if it is only a shadow of true happiness. My authority on the subject is vast, I have spent too many years already looking for a shadow of the thing itself not chasing after the object itself, but instead lingering in a pale illusion of it. Do you know what it means to be happy? When was the last time you were happy? The last time you touched your Ipod? When you looked inside your wallet? When you wrote about your recent adventures? Can you even answer the question? What does it look like? Yes, there it is. People. Don't they all revolve around or involve people? Even as you stare into the sunset are you not happy because you are there to view the sun as it falls below the horizon? People are the vitality of your happiness and mine.
