it's not very wanky like i know you think about tech death, it's more melodic than anything. but yeah pretty good stuff, i think i prefer the conductor's departure to the infernal depths of hatred but both are worthwhile imo.

dismember are quite good but i agree with your comment a while ago in that they basically just shift how melodic they are between releases. i'm still not really sure if i listen to any "true" black metal, but i suppose mayhem would quality and they're pretty good (even though iirc you're not so fond of them). i only have a couple of albums by the dm "greats" (close to a world below / none so vile spring to mind) so i can't really say beyond those, but they're both good.

yeah that's true. i thought it sounded more like uncle acid personally. i have not actually heard of graveyard but they sound a lot like the black keys.

i thought the vocals were pretty good, although quite heavy metal / power metal. could use a few growls though imo. and the shoutbox for ufomammut seems to be singleminded in its praise of the new one for what it's worth (which i admit is not a lot at all).
