Secon 8th Week Ministries :( - Part 4 - First imprressions of her

This is my response to my friend after I looked over her website:
First glimpse:
As to the Apostle JoAnne stuff, I went to their website...they have a statement of faith posted. I read it. It seems to be okay, but it's not very detailed. That could be a problem.
There's another kind of cult that permeates a lot of stuff in society, and that's the New Age Movement. It seeks to replace God with self. The New Thought movement is related to it. I'm a little concerned that this second 8th week may have a little of this stuff in it.
Something bothers me about this ministry...and I'm not exactly sure what it is. I'd be very careful of them. One thing that puts up a red flag for me is that she calls herself an Apostle.
I think I'm going to send her a message here on MySpace and ask her why she calls herself an apostle. Paul was an apostle and so were the disciples....because they lived in the timeframe of Jesus.
This 8th week ministry reminds me of a cult or something. I also read part of a blog she wrote, and she wrote something like : "the gospel, whatever that is to you." That reeks of New Ageish type thinking.
I would stay away from 8th week ministry if I were you. Something is wrong....and this is just from getting a very quick glimpse at their website and her MySpace page.
Her teachings in her blogs don't seem inspired by the Holy Spirit...that was my impression. Usually when I read something or hear something, the Holy Spirit confirms for me that it's truth. It's hard to explain, other than the fact that I know it's from Him. The truth hits my heart in a way that only God can do. I feel convicted when something is true.
This doesn't necessarily mean that her teachings aren't from God....but I highly question it. I would use great caution when listening to her. Really ask God for discernment.
Second Impression of her
Okay, she replied back to me....let me just say that my caution with her has now been raised:
She and her Government of God thingy are trying to take the place of the Holy Spirit. What I get from her response here is that a person can only gain the truth from studying from her.
This is not true at all. Here...let me give you Scripture as to why I disagree with her ministry:
First, I guess it would be good to give you Scripture about what the Holy Spirit is to do in the life of a believer. You already know that the Holy Spirit is God, via the Trinity explanation I sent you earlier.
Well, He is the member of the Godhead who is primiarly responsible for bringing the truth to people. He also sanctifies people (makes them holy), and He brings life....both physical and spiritual. See the (I had the name of the church that I have been going to in the original message that I sent my friend....but since I'm posting this for everyone to see, I'm going to not have the name of the church here, for privacy reasons) sermons that I sent you from the church....there was a sermon on the Holy Spirit about a year ago that was pretty awesome, and a pretty good explanation of who He is and what He does.
Hee hee....I just found the notes the the sermon the other day.... That's one of the Holy Spirit sermons he gave...there was a whole series of them that (name of pastor) did around that time.
But here is Scripture:
JN 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- 17 the Spirit of truth.
JN 14:25 "All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
JN 15:26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
JN 16:5 "Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ..Where are you going?' 6 Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. 7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
JN 16:12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
She is also implying that without going through her New Covenent ministries program, we can't understand Jesus' blood shed on the cross......She is totally removing the Holy Spirit's power.
Not only that, but she doesn't realize that when someone is filled with the Holy Spirit, they can overcome the stuff she's talking about.....and it's only by the Holy Spirit...not some ministry thing.
GAL 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. GAL 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
GAL 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
The Holy Spirit is the One who is to equip the believer.
I find her teaching promlematic because of this, and I suggest staying away from her teaching. She's trying to replace the Holy Spirit with herself and the Government organization....a lot like Jehovah's Witnesses do with the Watchtower.
