Swing

Swing music, also known as swing jazz, is a form of jazz music that developed in the early 1930s and had solidified as a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. Swing uses a strong anchoring rhythm section which supports a lead section that can include brass instruments, including trumpets and trombones, woodwinds including saxophones and clarinets or stringed instruments including violin and guitar; medium to fast tempos; and a “lilting” swing time rhythm. This list features the top scrobbled artists who are tagged with swing. It's only natural that more recent artists like Michael Bubble and Robbie Williams (no matter how infuriating it is to see them here) are going to feature higher. And as a trend, people these days prefer vocal to instrumental music so Rat Pack type singers are also going to feature higher. It would be great to see Louis Armstrong, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Count Bassie, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Lester Young and the likes to be featured higher. But also remember that these guys were playing with everyone and by themselves so their scrobbles are spread across many different artist pages: For example Duke Ellington and his Orchestra, Duke Ellington's Orchestra, Duke Ellington in small bands, Duke Ellington with...., and so on. Music was much more collaborative back then...they were entertainers before they were artists.
