Speed Metal

Speed metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal music originating in the early 1980s, rooted in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and hardcore punk. It is described by the Allmusic site as “extremely fast, abrasive, and technically demanding” music. Speed Metal is, by its present-day definition, any Metal that is too melodic to be Thrash but too aggressive to be Power Metal. It's something in between. The perfect example is "Soundchaser" by Rage. It's too damn evil to be Power Metal like Hammerfall, but too melodic to be Thrash like Kreator. In short, Speed Metal is Power Metal with balls. ;-)
