Hey I started a new group for music fanatics, the focus is going to be different than the ExMF and the frosty paradigm. It's a bit of an experiment but if a bunch of people get in it could be cool. Join if you are interested. I want this group to become a center for music discussion on Lastfm (even though it's metal centered, other genres are more than welcome to be discussed.) Cheers! http://www.last.fm/group/Unholy+Cult+of+the+Appraised+and+Damned

can't believe it's 2014 and bobo is still being bobo
  • Avatar for undeadmzkurlzz
    fuck yes.
  • Avatar for redgrave9
Underoath's last LP actually wasn't so bad. It had bits of post-metal here and there, besides the lame clean-vox choruses, it was a pretty fun listen.
  • Avatar for bobo9390
I can't believe it's 2014 and people still imply that pop punk is a bad genre. And also people implying that real screamo is more legit than stuff like the Top Artists. Both are obviously real. The members exist, the albums exist, and the songs exist. If you're using anything besides those three things to define a band or genre as "real", it starts becoming subjective. And even calling certain music "objectively better" than other music is subjective. Objectivity is in fact entirely subjective.

Underoath are pretty good. Alexisonfire were good. Everyone else is pure shit. And Underoath were Metalcore. Alexisonfire were Post-Hardcore

"I bet you've never listened to legitimate screamo." I'm going to hope that's ironic and you're not actually that condescending about something so insignificant

I really like how a band sounds, with those growls, cool guitar riffs, cool drums and then they fuck up everything up with that gay high pitch scream thingie, FUCK YOU screamo! Correct me if Im mistaken the screamo. Whatever you like to call those gay high pitch scream, I hate it
  • Avatar for agnessilvap
ffs, people should stop tagging HU as screamo and emo
  • Avatar for ABHORRANCE666
When I think of Screamo, I think of bands like Yaphet Kotto, Funeral Diner, Undery A Dying Sun, Pg.99, Planes Mistaken For Stars, and Forstella Ford, not exactly winy boys in makeup like Asking Alexandria or Black Veil Brides.

also saying "pop punk" sounds like a `shock` insult than an actual opinion, unless you're talking about 'screaming' pop punk bands like ADTR. Not saying these bands are directly related to screamo or hardcore, but it stemmed from there. Popular music didn't just pop into existence like some bad stain, it evolved & progressed into it.
  • Avatar for redgrave9
Nah b, they're both influenced by hardcore- one is just more recent and is less directly influenced by it. Take Thursday for instance, who started out as a DIY post-hardcore band (who were very much influenced by screamo and similar music) that only played basements until they managed to get signed to a major label and help push their sound to a larger audience. If it wasn't for them and a lot of similar artists at that important time, popular metalcore and post-hardcore wouldn't be the same as it is now.
  • Avatar for MaroonHorizon
It's not the image. It's the sound. One has its roots in hardcore. The other was inspired by pop-punk. Again, I'm not a fan of bands like Funeral Diner or Silverstein, but it just seems like the bands could be tagged more accurately according to their sounds in order to avoid frustration when listening to genre radio on the site.

    just my two cents~
