Reggaeton

is a form of urban music which became popular with Latin American youth during the early 1990s and spread over the course of 10 years to North American, European, Asian, and Australian audiences. Originating in Panama, Reggaeton blends Jamaican music influences of reggae and dancehall with those of Latin America, such as bomba, plena, salsa, merengue, latin pop and bachata as well as that of hip hop, R&B, and electronica. Have you tried listening to Ñejo & Dalmata, Chyno Nyno, Calle 13, De La Getto, Tego Calderón, Vakero. All the negative shit you go on abput is just them highlighting social issues, the lyrics of these artists and more are extremely well thought out, and the treating women as objects has been phased out throughout much mainstream, listening to a few new releases would show this. There is more to reggaeton than just the poster boys :P
