Progressive Metal

Progressive metal (also known as “prog metal”) is a metal genre which combines heavy metal with progressive rock, resulting in odd time signatures, adventurous timbres and complex compositional structures. Technical proficiency is a large part of categorizing the genre apart from power metal, and plays a generally large part in progressive metal. Since I discovered this genre (first listening to Dream Theater), I listen 98% of the time to progmetal and subgenres (like progmetal opera - Ayreon and prog death metal - Opeth). Love this kind of music to the bone.
