Progressive rock

Progressive rock (often shortened to “progressive”, “prog rock” or “prog”, also sometimes called, although not synonymous with, “art rock”) is a form of rock music that evolved in the late-1960s and early 1970s as part of a “mostly British attempt to elevate rock music to new levels of artistic credibility.” Read more…|Edit this Artist photo: Oceansize

Harmonium, from Quebec, very underrated outside their county, even if they play a great prog. And from Italy "Narrow Pass", another very nice surprise, in the prog universe. Prock rock is not dead at all, got to search, you never know. Good Luck to every every one in our Milk Way.

music should have died with beethoven. I don't know what all of these rock bands are doing, but it sure as hell isn't real music. music is sacred!

The term "progressive rock" should have died a long time ago (I blame Marillion and the deterioration of Genesis). That term mysteriously resurfaced at some point after the 90's. I don't know what bands like Mars Volta / Porcupine Tree / Coheed & Cambria should be called, but not progressive rock. Progressive rock is sacred!

In terms of the best up and coming acts in prog, Haken, Cormorant, and Ne Obliviscaris are the front-runners for the next big acts imo.
