Post-Hardcore

Post-hardcore evolved from hardcore punk, as its name implies. Post-hardcore’s relationship to hardcore punk is analogous to that of the relationship between post-punk, which in fact influenced much post-hardcore of the 1980s and 1990s, and classic punk. Sky eats Airplane, Enter Shikari, Breathe Carolina, Attack Attack etc. don't belong here! Techno-core is a load of bull and should have it's own genre to be crap in!!! GODDAMMIT!!!!!!!!

post-hardcore is the most bullshit genre ever. people label the music they listen to 'post-hardcore' when they don't want to admit they listen to emo and pop or any sub-genre of the two. there isn't anything wrong with listening to emo or pop so quit being a bitch about it. the only reason this genre exists is because there are still people embarrassed about the music they listen to. cut that shit out already! i think everyone can agree with me on that matter. on another note, a day to remember sucks. enter shikari's 'we can breathe in space...' album sucked too. those two bands are way different. why group them together in a faux-genre? if somebody ever describes a band to you as 'post-hardcore' i urge you to call them on their bullshit. now i'm sure many of you feel i missed something here, so go ahead and try to explain to me what all these bands have in common and why they are they are grouped together. please. just try.

lols : D no, but seriously guys, both atdi and adtm are as post-hardcore, it's all about experimenting with the good ol' hardcore. both bands do it their own ways, so about this surpassing thing, it probably just happened by chance or smth. and yeah, sorry about the 'you have no idea' thing, I admit it looks pretty retarded, especially after checking your charts : ) yeah, I definitely need to listen to Fugazi. and yeah, post-hardcore is about up and coming mexicoman.

oh and yeah fans do pretty much always ruin genres. Fans ruin everything basically. And yet is usually fans bitching about it too. The artists themselves probably prefer scene kids to thinking people, mostly because the former are more likely to buy the songs on itunes because they couldn't figure out how to use soulseek. Sorry I just can't help myself sometimes I'll stop now. Really I actually don't hate scene kids (annoying is better than dull), but they are easy to make fun of.

I completely agree with you, noo_dog. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's always the fans that ruin genres as a whole. Also, why is anyone comparing In Flames to Post-Hardcore? Ones metal, and the other is hardcore.

Yeah alright I guess there wasn't any need for me to flame ADTR, I was just listening to them at the time and I guess I wanted to get it out of my system, but my point was that regardless of whether ADTR are good or not, they're not related to post-hardcore at all, whereas alexisonfire most certainly are. But people who don't like any of that sort of music (or are just bawing at seeing ADTR at the top) try to lump it all together and claim that none of it is post-hardcore. I guess in the end it doesn't matter everyone can just listen to what they want to, but it is annoying if you like modern post-hardcore, but you don't like modern pop-punk, and you're trying to work out which category a particular band belongs to.

I actually prefer Alexisonfire to all of the old/true/whatever post-hardcore bands, so fuck you all. If you don't like a band, just don't listen to it. Don't like ADTR? Then why the fuck care about them? I mean, I don't like them either, but that doesn't mean I go around flaming them.. If you really want an artist to flame, go to Tila Tequila's page or some shit..

The sad thing about the big war between new and old post-hardcore (or true and false if you want to be narky about it) is that some of the new stuff is really really good and related to proper post-hardcore, but its brought down by the shitty stuff that all the truefags lump in with it. And its hard to know sometimes - but you've got to listen to it all for yourself to find out - just saying a band is shit because the other 99% of Fugazi-or-gtfo tards say so is stupid . For example, I love Alexisonfire's self titled, and The Blood Brothers are great. I don't even mind a bit of Thrice or similar. But then there's bullshit like A Day to Remember (which I'm currently bringing myself to finish) which bears no resemblance to either post-hardcore or good music. 3-chord pop-punk choruses + whinny corny vocals = scene kids are in; add some breakdowns and mallgrowls you've got the pisshead unemployed 20-something's covered with tats in on it too amirite?
