Madchester
Madchester was a rock genre that developed in Manchester, England, towards the end of the 1980s and into the early 1990s. The music that emerged from the scene mixed indie rock, psychedelic rock and dance music. Artists associated with the scene included The Stone Roses, the Happy Mondays, the Inspiral Carpets, 808 State, James, The Charlatans, A Guy Called Gerald and other notable bands. You wouldn't think it from this site but madchester, although it came first, was just a subset of 'baggy'. Around 1990 the whole scene became known as 'baggy' to encompass similar bands that weren't from manchester e.g. Flowered Up... so basically, baggy manchester bands are also madchester, but baggy non-manchester bands are just 'baggy'... Not that it's going to make any difference because too many people have tagged baggy non-manchester stuff as 'madchester', i'm just saying that's all, i won't mention it again
