The label “folktronica” seems to have originated in the British press, having come to encompass performers and bands that include elements of ambient electronica, folk, jazz, classical, and even hip-hop. I think the tag's expressing exactly what it's about. I suggest to people not liking genre changes and evolution to visit their 'folk', 'world music' and other similar boxes. There IS a genre called folktronica and the music framed by it is also experimental, so I really don't wonder if many don't understand it.
