Death Doom Metal

Death doom metal (also referred to as death/doom or doom/death) is a subgenre of doom metal. It mixes the slow, sombre sound of doom metal with elements of death metal, such as growled vocals and double kick drumming. Stylistically, the first band to combine these elements was Dream Death, followed shortly by the more death metal-oriented bands Sempiternal Deathreign, Delirium, Asphyx, Disembowlement, Winter and Autopsy. For anything purely Death Doom, check out Keen of the Crow. I recently listened to Spina Bifida, I think they're decent at worst (sounds like diSEMBOWELMENT without the brutality).
